DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

INTRODUCTION

The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2011 with UG degree to render service to the growing, young and aspiring women community to achieve their goal. The department was uplifted as the post graduate department in the year 2015. Qualified faculty members, excellent infrastructure with two modernizedand well equiped Chemistry laboratories provide ample opportunities to the students to become leading personalities. The focus of the department is to develop students in both curricular and co-curricular activities. The department has registered good academic record and achieved university rank in Periyar University examination. In 2011 Mrs.M.Vijayakumari, was the Head of the Department with 1 staff member and 1 lab assistant. In 2012 Mrs.M.Lallimathi, was the Head of the Department with 2 staff members and 1 lab assistant. In 2018 Ms. C.Anjali, was the Head of the Department with 9 staff members and 1 lab assistant.

Vision

Producing development oriented women through Chemistry education.

Mission

  • Imparting life oriented knowledge in Chemistry
  • Instilling research orientation among the women graduates
  • Equipping with skills through hands-on experience in lab programmes.

Association Activities

Every year the department forms the association committee with staff member as organizing president, and students as secretary, joint secretaries and treasurer to carry out the association activities. This helps the students to develop their leadership qualities.
